Activities
The revised project contains a broad range of activities designed to move KP from REDD+ readiness towards operational carbon markets.
Major activities include:
- Transaction Advisory Services for managing EOI, RFP, bidding, evaluation, negotiations and financial close.
- Pre-bid meetings and bid-evaluation activities.
- Capacity building and awareness raising for communities and government officials.
- Hiring of five sector specialists covering legal matters, carbon forestry and climate change, MRV, agriculture/livestock carbon, and transport/waste/energy carbon.
- Legislative and policy initiatives for forest carbon rights and benefit sharing.
- Preparation of a Provincial Forest Carbon Policy and Forest Carbon Rules.
- Development of a provincial MRV system and centralized digital repository.
- Establishment of institutional mechanisms for carbon-market development.
- Environmental and social safeguards and FPIC.
- Publicity, extension and awareness activities.
- Establishment and strengthening of the Project Management Unit (PMU).
- Procurement of machinery, equipment and other operational resources.
The revised project also focuses on three priority carbon projects: two IFM projects in Malakand and Hazara and one ARR project in D.I. Khan.
