The overall objective of the project is to support the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department and local communities by creating an enabling environment for REDD+ interventions and carbon-credit marketing. The project is also intended to facilitate the development and implementation of potential carbon-credit projects through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements.
Establish a National Forest Carbon Monitoring System
Build a sustainable, repeatable system for measuring and reporting forest carbon stocks at national scale.
Generate Accurate Carbon Stock Estimates
Produce statistically robust, spatially explicit estimates validated against international good-practice standards.
Strengthen GIS and Remote Sensing Capacity
Build lasting technical capacity within forest departments to process and interpret satellite data.
Support REDD+ Reporting Obligations
Provide the data foundation required for national communications and climate finance readiness.
Build Institutional and Field Capacity
Train field officers, GIS specialists, and analysts in standardized data collection and processing methods.
Inform Evidence-Based Forest Policy
Translate technical findings into actionable input for national land-use and conservation policy.
